Michelle Wong

Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon with a subspeciality in Otology at Auckland City Hospital

Michelle is an Auckland Medical School graduate who did her ENT training in Sydney and her Fellowship in Oxford. She moved back to Auckland in 2010 to assume a position at Auckland City Hospital.

David Flint

Otolaryngologist, CMDHB

After training in Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery in New Zealand, David did additional fellowship training in paediatric and adult otology in Australia before taking up a Consultant position at Waitemata DHB from 2005 to 2015.

Jacqui Allen

Laryngologist, WDHB

Jacqui is an international expert in Disorders of the Voice and Swallowing. Trained here, Jacqui has worked in the UK and USA.
She was Visiting Assistant Professor in Laryngology and Bronchoesophagology at the University of California, Davis, until deciding to return home to NZ to establish the first centre for Voice and Swallowing in Auckland. She was also the first in NZ to perform in-office procedures such as transnasal oesphagoscopy and KTP laser laryngology procedures. Dr Allen is an Honorary Associate Professor University of Auckland, where she runs the University of Auckland Laboratory for Swallowing and Voice research, and is a grant-funded researcher. She is a member of the American Bronchoesophagological Association, President of the Dysphagia Research Society, Academy of Surgical Educators and NZ Society of Otolaryngology. Jacqui can often be found in the University Basement with her research sheep or at home with her daughter and husband.

Michelle Wong

Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon with a subspeciality in Otology at Auckland City Hospital

Michelle is an Auckland Medical School graduate who did her ENT training in Sydney and her Fellowship in Oxford. She moved back to Auckland in 2010 to assume a position at Auckland City Hospital.
She has a specialised interest in ear disease, minimally invasive Endoscopic Ear surgery and KTP laser in ear surgery. She co-founded the New Zealand Dizziness and Balance Center.

Her other areas of interest include general ENT conditions, Pediatric ENT, sinus disease. She has a permanent practice in Silverdale. She is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.

David Flint

Otolaryngologist, CMDHB

After training in Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery in New Zealand, David did additional fellowship training in paediatric and adult otology in Australia before taking up a Consultant position at Waitemata DHB from 2005 to 2015.
He has also been at Counties Manukau DHB from 2009. David provides general otolaryngology services with special interests in otology, nasal and sinus disease. David is a member of the NZ Society of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery, American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery, NZ Society for Balance Dizziness & Vertigo, and a senior lecturer in the Department of Surgery University of Auckland. He is a former member of the NZ Training, Education & Accreditation Committee for Otolaryngology.

Jacqui Allen

Anna is a facility member in Speech Science, Psychology at The University of Auckland.
As a researcher, lecturer and clinician in the area of swallowing and swallowing disorders.  She is the New Zealand Speech-language Therapists’ Association Expert Adviser in Adult Dysphagia (swallowing disorders).  Anna is Principle Investigator of the Swallowing Research Laboratory in the Centre of Brain Research at The University of Auckland.

In addition to research supervision, Anna provides clinical teaching to students at The University of Auckland and provides a considerable amount of international and national teaching each year. Anna is a specialist speech-language therapist in dysphagia and voice and provides national teaching in speciality areas of endoscopic evaluation of swallowing, videofluroscopic study of swallowing, surface EMG in dysphagia management and tracheostomy management.

Jennifer Kaponga

Jennifer (Jenn) has more than 25 years Customer Service experience, the last 15 years in leadership roles.

When 10 years ago she realised her passion for Health and began working at North Shore Hospital as a Team Leader before joining Auckland ENT Group. Currently on the Executive Committee for Practice Managers & Administrators Association of New Zealand (PMAANZ).   In her down time, you will most likely find her sitting in the Hauraki Gulf with her rod over the side of the boat or Hiking with friends. Jennifer has been managing the team since August 2015.

Tessa Livingston

Speech Language Therapist

Jacqui is an international expert in Disorders of the Voice and Swallowing. Trained in New Zealand, Jacqui has worked in the UK and USA.
Tessa is a gradate of ‘The Actors Program’ where she did a practical program of voice development specialising in using it for stage and screen.  She has her TOSCA Level 1 certification in conjunction with ‘The Voice Lab’ and has a special interest in performance voice, accents and how we interact with our own voices in our daily lives.  Tessa understands the importance of the voice to each individual and looks to help people to either find their way back to using it or extending its capabilities.  She can often be found humming through a straw and sipping water to counteract her coffee intake.
