Post-op Dietary Instructions following Cricopharyngeal Myotomy
Diet Recommendations
The surgery has created a small raw area within the throat that needs to heal and will take about 10 days to do so. During this time, you may experience throat discomfort or pain when eating or swallowing saliva. Use your pain medications as you need and make sure that you drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration.
Your Surgeon will give you any specific advice. The following is intended as a guide only. If you are not sure what is appropriate to eat, then ask your Doctor. Remember to chew well and use lubrication, e.g. Sauce, gravy, fluids.
